We are in the process of moving the bulk of our indoor lessons to Oklahoma Athletic Center. OAC has a great pool facility with a heated therapy pool and 25m lanes. The heated pools are great for young learners, and allow us to offer lessons all year. Anyone taking lessons at OAC will need a pool membership, which cost $35 for the first person on the account, $50 for two, and $75 for three. Get in contact with us for more pricing information.

Parent/Child classes at OAC will have a $10 fee.

Swim Lesson Essentials

Swim Diapers - A Must for a Comfortable Swim Experience

Swim diapers are a crucial part of maintaining a clean and hygienic swimming environment. Unlike regular diapers, swim diapers are designed to prevent leaks in the water, ensuring a comfortable and worry-free experience for both parents and swimmers. They are a must for any individual, including infants and toddlers, participating in swim lessons.

To make your swim experience as enjoyable as possible, we recommend using high-quality swim diapers. These diapers are specifically designed for water activities, providing a snug fit and excellent leak protection. Individuals will need at least a disposable swim diaper under a leak proof swim pant.

How to Use Swim Diapers

  • Ensure a Proper Fit: Choose the appropriate size for your child to ensure a snug yet comfortable fit.

  • Avoid Regular Diapers: Regular diapers are not suitable for swimming as they can become heavy and saggy when wet.

  • Change Promptly: Change swim diapers promptly to maintain cleanliness and prevent discomfort.

  • Frequent Checks: Check the swim diaper often to make sure there is no fecal matter inside of the diaper. Swim diapers' goal is to simply buy you a little time

  • Frequent Checks: Check the swim diaper often to make sure there is no fecal matter inside of the diaper. Swim diapers' goal is to simply buy you a little time before fecal matter starts to leak out. If there is fecal matter inside of the swim diaper, eventually the water will flow inside of the diaper and cause fecal matter to leak out of the diaper into the pool.

Note:

It is essential to have your child wearing a swim diaper before entering the pool to maintain a clean and safe swimming environment. Please follow any pool or facility rules regarding swim diaper usage.

Goggles - Enhancing Comfort and Confidence in the Water

Why Goggles Are Important

Goggles play a vital role in enhancing comfort and confidence during swim lessons for both children and adults. They provide clear vision underwater, reduce eye irritation, and contribute to an overall positive swimming experience.

Guidelines for Goggles Usage

Goggles play a vital role in enhancing comfort and confidence during swim lessons for both children and adults. They provide clear vision underwater, reduce eye irritation, and contribute to an overall positive swimming experience.

While goggles are a valuable tool, it's important to use them judiciously. We encourage individuals to:

  • Swim Without Goggles: Participants should feel confident swimming a bit without goggles. It's an essential skill that contributes to overall water confidence and safety.

  • Practice Putting Face in Water Without Goggles: Being able to put the face in the water without goggles is an important skill. It helps individuals get comfortable with water on their face, a crucial aspect of learning to swim.

  • Avoid Nose-Covering Goggles: Goggles that cover the nose are discouraged, as they hinder the ability to exhale air properly through the nose. Proper exhalation is important for breath control and overall swimming comfort.

Recommended Goggles

For optimal performance and comfort, we recommend goggles that provide a secure fit, clear vision, and easy adjustment. Here are our top recommendations:

Note:

While goggles are beneficial, they should not be relied upon 100% of the time. Developing the ability to swim without goggles is an important milestone in becoming a confident swimmer.
